Performance
Garbh (womb) is an immersive outdoor dance work that reimagines the ancient Gujarati folk dance Garba through contemporary choreography. Performed in the round, the dancers circle a glowing clay lantern – a symbol of life, creation and transformation – as they explore themes of community, resilience and connection.
Blending movement, music, costume and ritual, Garbh transforms public spaces into places of celebration and reflection. Inspired by the divine feminine energy of Shakti, this uplifting and soulful performance invites audiences on a journey through life’s cycles, honouring our connections to each other and the world around us.
Vivid Recorded audio description available. Touch Tour workshop prior to performance.
Suitable for all ages.
Supported by Without Walls and commissioned by Birmingham Weekender, Freedom Festival, An Indian Summer, Activate/Inside Out Dorset, Stockton International Riverside Festival and Brighton Festival. Also by Richmond Arts & Ideas Festival 2025 and Co-Produced by Pagrav Dance Company with funding from Arts Council England.
